If you watch the movie you see the point at the end as it's explained...There's also a monolague as jane and her boyfriend are watching the plastic bag and he foreshadows the end. Beautiful movie but I'd say it has more meaning than one whether or not intended.

I hear this a lot. On the surface, it doesn't really seem to go anywhere, I suppose. I always have a hard time explaining what I love about it; it just seems to make sense, seems tuned in to so many nuances and bizarrities in modern life, and seems to access so many fundamental truths. And it has several vast overlying dramatic ironies.

that's only a point of view, the characters are not monolithic they'not black or white, they are sometimes appreciable and sometimes disgating. this is like in the real life...there is not only the story of kevin spacy but the points of view of each characters and a pantheistic approach tothe life...not so sad story for me! u could watch again

I really don't think there's ever been a movie that told the truth about the typical, messed up, suburban life. They added a twisted kind of comedy, which adds to why many like it. It tells of the hardships in life, and makes you want to watch it because your awaiting for the comedy in this movie.
