I actually like this orchestrated version- strings provide the flowing decrescendos a piano can't completely acheive. The piano, though, gives a more frantic, pulsing, well...spinning-wheel-like harmony...

I wish I understood zafire's comment. Any chance of an English translation? I enjoyed this version. It's very dramatic, and I love her voice. For a very successful orchestration of a lied by Schubert listen to Thomas Qualsthoff in An die Musik.

okay...so it's a little over the top with all of the dramatic inflections that she adds in her voice...but who cares...it's Renee and that's what makes her voice so unique and fabulous. I love it!!

I think it's beautifully sung. That said, the speed (and therefore the interpretation) isn't what I'd do on this song. I'd like it to be a little more brooding. I think the faster tempo is more appropriate only in several sections in the middle. This way it makes her seem too... crazy, which seems like an oxymoron, because Margurite is going a little crazy... but... it's what I think. A little more brooding would have been appreciated.
