This is amazing (it's not easy to play a concerto by memory, as the soloist seems to be doing). However, the full orchestral version sounds better to me. But the echoing in this video might be degrading the quality of the music.

Very fine sensitive solo playing
well considered interpretation.Boomy sound lets u down a little,of course and, in my experience the piano2(orchestra)part always needs some re-writing to blend better,as in most concerto "accompaniments".Enjoyed it. Bravo!

YES I've been wondering what the actual name of this piece is for a long time now; I have an arrangement of it entitled called "Norwegian Concerto," but it's not quite as epic as this version.

These guys are extrememly talented!! My Mom used to play this piece all the time, but I never knew what it was called. Very glad to have come across this, since Mom's not around to ask anymore!

I love the runs in this piece. They seem so hard but they flow really nicely under the fingers :D This performance is awesome and absolutely flawless. He took some of the parts a bit slow, which is what gave me confidence: I'm playing this in six months time w/ Orchestra! ARGH

You want to know how to play that opening arpeggio, right? It's kind of hard to describe without sheet music, but... It starts on the lowest note of the piano, an A played with the left hand, and then goes up one octave to the second-lowest A, jumping a fifth to E and then a fourth to the third-lowest A of the piano, after which the right hand finally joins in with the remaining notes in the Am chord going up in thirds and fourths, like this: C-E-A-C. Next...

...the left hand plays the third lowest A and starts a pattern of four notes (A-C-E-A) that are alternated with the right hand (playing the C-E-A-E notes just above where the left hand left off, before switching back to the left hand playing the same thing an octave higher, answered by the right hand wherever the left hand finished. In other words, the combined left and right hand line has the following notes, always climbing: A-C-E-A-C-E-A-C, which are repeated twice in higher octaves. So...

The entire line goes like this: Lowest A on the piano, A one octave higher, (always climbing) E-A (right hand now--
) C-E-A-E, jumping down to the third lowest A of the piano and doing A-C-E-A-C-E-A-C-, jumping down to the fourth lowest A of the piano and doing A-C-E-A-C-E-A-C, jumping down to the fifth-lowest A of the piano and doing -A-C-E-A-C-E-A-C and stopping all dramatically. That last note should be the second-highest C of the piano. And everything is to be played rather quickly.
