I see your point, but maybe people already didn't like the Nazi party because Hitler was already a dictator that was publicly threatening the world with his Aryan philosophy. Also it was in 38 that Germany invaded Poland, which would be the start of european theater of WWII. Plus I believe there was some controversy over having the 1936 olympics in Germany.

I wish I had something like dat to I could fly to wherever I feel. Can anyone tell me if the have invented a real compatible human rocket or rocket costume like the one in this movie?? let me know and where I can read about it, link me to a site or something. Not in the movie, it takes place in the 1940s. "Kraut" was common slang at the time to refer to Germans.

I love the bit just before the Rocketeer goes after the blimp, when the gangster and the Fed are both side-by-side firing at the Nazi troops, and they do a double-take. "Lousy Krauts...LET 'EM HAVE IT!!" This is a cute, cute movie.
