How does one decide what is purest, greatest and best? You may think it is Rafi but to me it was Kishore. At the end of the day, human consensus is the only possible way. What majority humans feel is deemed right. I don't think you will find a clear majority saying Rafi was better than Kishore or vice versa if such a poll is conducted. You can disregard polls with the attitude that only your viewpoint is right and Rafi is the best, but that is the same mistake religious extremists are making.

well Rafi faced Far tougher competition than Lata, lata had only Asha to challenge her, where as Rafi Sahab had Kishore, Mukesh, Mannadey, talat Mahmood to compete with. All said and done, all these Stalwarts are responsible for creating such a wonderful cocktail called Hindi film music. Rafi Sahab had da best n most beautifl voice unfortunately is forgotten. His voice was so real n relaxing about kishor well is, no doubt a great singer ever but his voice is not a realxing voice its not a soothing voice but Rafi sahab had a very soothing voice and his voice is infact very versatile. rafi had a better voice than kishore kumar. he was also much more versatile. bhajans, ghazals, qawwalis, even soft romantic songs - kishore had very little to his repertoire compared to rafi. rafi was a top singer in 50s, 60s, and also the 70s a decade supposed to be kishore's. kishore only had success in the 70s. rafi was the voice for every era, every type of song, every actor. that's versatility!

i'm pretty chilled thank you. it should be understood that when a person write an opinion -it is HIS opinion. do i need to put "IN MY OPINION" when i'm the one doing the talking? i don't think so - at least that's what my 9th grade english teacher suggested. i very well know and respect that other people have different opinions (especially when judging voices). however, subjectivity has its limits. especially when judging the versatility of both singers. practice what you preach and chill out.

I dont think you have gotten 9th lessons properly.There are facts, opinions and assertions.A fact is a statement that can be quantitatively verified by experimentation and hence has a definitive style construction in speech (The sky is blue, Stars are hot). An opinion, however is a personal stance that is not necessarily verifiable (roses smell better than daisies, Islam is better than Judaism).
To state an opinion as a fact is a bad language practice and may indicate an attitude problem.

I don't think we need to discuss whose voice is better Rafi, Kishore or anyone else - let's just enjoy them all and not forget the contributions of music directors, lyricists, musicians, etc. either. All fantastic creations for our pleasure. The five fingers/colours /textures/tastes are not the same, it wouldn't be fun if they were. Let's just respect and appreciate art and help it to make us more beautiful, gentle and loving instead of arguing and passing scathing remarks to each other.

Where did I say that I dont like Rafi's voice? One gentleman was trying to force his opinion that Rafi's voice is better than Kishore as a fact. I was merely making him realize that people have different tastes. I like Rafi, but I like Kishore better like million others.
It scares me to see that there are people in this world like you who measure everything by one's religion. They automatically assume that likes and dislikes will be based on religion. Wow! Scary.
