how do you figure that?
USA's highest flying SR71 mod was shot down and recovered by the chinese using a SAM. english electric lighting ccan fly higher than an SR 71 thats a fact. I'm sure russia had a mog Mig 25 somewhere that could fly higher.
Yeah i recently read about that Mig25 hold the world record alltitude!
My favourite is the Mig31 Foxhoud. The gun on it fires 10,000rpm.

SR/71, D-21B was shot down on 20 March 1971 over China and 90% recovered by chinese forces. D21 was the highest flying,fastest most advanced USA weapon at the time.

Youyve failed to mention that the D21 was the newest most advanced version of the Sr71. It was faster and flew higher. The sr71 was shot down many times. Thats why the project was cancalled and the tooling destroyed during the vietnam war.

And what makes you think (what a stupid question, when did you ever think) that China can shoot down an SR-71 when the Russians, with better weapon systems couldn't do it?

USA then designed a faster higher flying drone and sent that over vietnam and China.
That was also shot down.
My point is if SR71 was that good the project wouldnt of been so rapidly cancelled during a war.

The D-21 was a DRONE, and was only carried by the B-52H after 1966. It was in no way more advanced than the much larger manned SR-71 design. On the contrary. It was basically an engine with wings, carrying a reconnaissance camera and a simple guidance system, designed to take the missile along a
pre-programmed course and drop its recce package for pick-up. The SR-71 was an advanced recon aircraft. The D-21 was a disposable camera.
