Man this is really sad. My brother in-law is from Ukraine. He told me about the situation there but I thought he was just exagerating. He is the only son and furtunate to have parents that are sucessful. I wanna go visit there someday and make some donation.

Raising children was not the job of the state in the USSR, parents had responsibilities like anywhere else. The USSR had orphanages ect where parentless children were raised, like anywhere else and children were not allowed to live on the streets if it could be prevented.

I'm from Ukraine and I want to tell you what impressed me the most in our country.
I was raised in a full family(not rich) but in my yard (yard of the 5-stock building, "khruschovka") are many young people from not full families,some of them are my friends.
They can't understand WHY I've got a higher education(I've got free of charge,on state's order). They think about higher education as about whim and obviously useless thing.
That's depressed.

LOL no this video is made by people who care. It was in Ukraine where I met the first street children I work with. They were living in sewers. The problem is wealthy people lack altruism and do not want to acknowledge problems of the poor. This can be said for the rich of ANY nation.
